Welcome!
Are you
looking for a beautiful log home and want all the economical and
aesthetic benefits a log home affords? Look no further, at
Trails End Log Homes, we can get you on the right
track.
Trails End Log Homes is an
independent dealer for Lodge Logs of Boise
Idaho. Lodge Logs is owned and operated by a logging
company and because of that Lodge Logs is able to control the
quality of there logs and a higher grade of log,
unparalleled in the industry. Our homes are easy to heat in
the winter and keep cool in the summer. All wall logs are
kiln-dried to 15% moisture content, to the
center of the LOG, before
milling. Window and door openings are precut, and
wall logs are pre-drilled for thru-bolt fastening. Our log walls are
tight and they stay that
way. By using dry logs and our through-bolt
method of construction, our log homes are one of the safest and
enduring homes on the market. (for more information see
link: The Safest Home on the Market, you will be
amazed.)
Trails End Log Homes offers
packages at very competitive prices and nobody can beat the quality.
Log package prices vary according to log diameter (7", 8", 9", 10"
and 12") and wood species Pine, Spruce, and Alpine
Fir.
Lodge Log offers a limited LIFETIME
WARRANTY on their log wall system.
Lodge Logs
provides only the log components
for your new log home. Trails End Log Homes will
also include any lumber materials in our packages such as
framing lumber, insulation, windows, doors, plywood sheathing, etc.
You may also purchase these items from you local
lumberyard as you need them giving you control over your building
project budget.
You may choose to purchase
the log wall package only which includes
everything you need to build an eight-foot high exterior log wall
system: thru-bolts, couplers, nuts, washers, tension springs, key
blocks and micro foam sealer. The roof and other areas of
the home are then conventionally framed by your builder using
standard lumber material. We also offer full half log siding
which has the appearance of a full log wall and is easily applied to
the gables and framed walls.
The total log shell
package includes all the log components needed to erect
your home: log walls, log gables, log for dormer faces,
half log siding for dormer sides, log floor joists, log roof system,
log posts and headers, log stairs and log railing.
See typical log component
illustration below:

In addition to our standard
plans, most of our homes are custom homes .We will be
able to quote you the estimated cost for the total log components
for the home once you have a set of approved construction
drawings. Your log home must be engineered for your
specific location. Each log home is an individual. No two
will ever price out the same.
Lodge Logs also produces log
trusses, log stairs, custom log mantles, 1/4 notched logs for true
log corners, custom lathed and sanded log poles up to 20" diameter x
40 feet, half log siding, and custom cut rough sawn
beams.
Today, log homes account
for more than 15% of the new custom homes built in the United
States. The average cost of a completed turn key log home can start
at about $130 per square foot and be as much as $200 per sq ft.
depending on the local labor costs and choices made
by both you the owner and the builder. Cost will
vary depending on your location and the complexity of the home you
design. Quality log homes such as Lodge Logs homes require a degree
of construction skill higher than that for a conventional home when
you go with the total log package. You may
demand finishing work and materials of a superior quality than in
conventional homes such as hardwood floors, Anderson windows,
cathedral ceilings, large log rafters, custom kitchen cabinets, log
stairs and railings and stone fireplaces. OR use the
KISS principle (keep it simple) and even build it for less than $130 per sq
ft. (take a look at our Kabin Kits low prices).
Basement space and garage area are not included. The
term "turnkey" means that the home has been constructed to a
completed "move-in" state. Turnkey cost does not
include cost of the land or any site improvements such as land
clearing, driveway construction, installation of utilities, etc or
permits. You may also have your builder construct your log
home "weather-tight" which means the roof is on, windows and
doors in, and the home can be worked on protected from the
weather.
